Able Steel continues it's commercial work in and around the Phoenix area

We have the capacity to take on a complex project for SRP and Varo Engineering up in Saint Johns, Arizona. The fabricated steel for the Coronado Generating Station Limestone Handling Equipment Upgrade has been delivered and is now being erected by SRP subcontractors. This project was only 128 tons but for what it lacked in weight it made up in size and degree of difficulty. On this project Able Steel provided a new support system for an expanded conveyor system. It consisted of seven new conveyor galleries, each one about forty feet long, a new transfer tower and all the necessary steel to connect to an existing transfer tower. All of this material was sand blasted cleaned and painted with two coats of industrial quality paint.

As we wrapped up the Coronado Project, Able Steel’s very talented detailing and shop personnel immediately undertook another very difficult project for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Parking Garage “A”. This project is also currently being erected, again the tonnage is not excessive at only 146 tons but the degree of difficulty is right up there with the Coronado Project. This time we are providing a forty eight foot high screenwall structure built out of tube steel and tee sections. There are actually three separate structures adjoining each other. It starts with a one hundred and eighty degree segment at a forty five foot radius. Then there is a truss section designed to support a masonry veneer and then you finish up with a section shaped like a shallow “S” that is one hundred and fifty feet long. Behind all this add a couple of stair towers. Finally, every bit of this project was hot dipped galvanized which not only added extreme durability to the finished project, but also made the fabrication and erection significantly more difficult.
